Texarkana, Texas metal act SYLO has exploded onto the underground metal scene in 2011. Having just been crowned The Metal Den’s first ever battle of the bands champion, this four piece musical act has been unloading the ultimate sonic destruction on unsuspecting Southern crowds from one town to the next with the same kind of passion delivered by a young PANTERA.
The Metal Den’s Randy “Rocket” Cody has conducted an exclusive interview with guitarist Dave Ferland of SYLO for his loyal worldwide Den Headz.
Rocket: First off, congrats on winning TMD’s first ever Battle of The Bands! How did you
react when you first heard your band won?
Dave: We were stoked. Very excited!
Rocket: You cats have been making quite the name for yourselves already, just from
the buzz on ReverbNation, which is where SYLO and TMD hooked it all up…
so let’s give those people a plug, definitely. Tell me, brother, when was SYLO
band first formed?
Dave: 2002. Originally Sylo was Spelled Psylo. They took the P out and
you got “Support Your Local Outlaws” SYLO…. lol
Rocket: Rock on, bro! Where were you born and raised?
Dave: West Chester, New York.
Rocket: Do you come from a big family?
Dave: No, very small family!
Rocket: When did you first start playing guitar?
Dave: At sixteen years of age.
Rocket: Who are some of your biggest musical influences?
Dave: Ozzy Osbourne
Rocket: I really dig your song called “Psyklops”. Word is you guys are working on a debut album,
correct? When can fans expect to see that and what details can you share?
Dave: Yes! 2012… we’re currently in the studio and our debut CD is coming together very well!
Rocket: What kind of guitars are you currently playing live and in the studio?
Dave: Jackson Guitars.
Rocket: Does SYLO have any endorsements at this point?
Dave: Our drummer is with Silverfox Drumsticks.
Rocket: What are a few of the bigger record labels out there that you respect?
Dave: Hard to say but if I had to choose it would be Roadrunner!
Rocket: With all the bands you play shows within the underground scene are there
any worth mentioning currently that you think have some talent?
Dave: Our Precious Demise.

Rocket: Where do you see yourself in ten years?
Dave: On a stage in front of 50,000 people!
