New Orleans, Louisiana (USA) stoner metal unit DOWN has issued the following band update:

“Hey everybody,

It’s about time a quick rundown was put out about the status of Down and it’s individual members.

First, the good news is Down has tentative plans to meet in New Orleans shortly after the Super Bowl to map out 2010. This includes solidifying plans to record and release a 4th full length album! In the meantime, 4 of the 5 guys are celebrating the Saints’ first Super Bowl berth. The 5th guy has to settle for celebrating the Cowboy’s first playoff win in a looong time. We’ll keep you up to date.

E1 ENTERTAINMENT – Enters Distro Deal With SPV

E1 Entertainment Distribution has announced a new deal with SPV in North America. E1 will acquire both physical and digital rights for the Germany-based metal label’s extensive roster, which includes Molly Hatchet, Skinny Puppy, Whitesnake, and Monster Magnet, among others.

Michael Koch, C.E.O. E1 Entertainment U.S. comments, “The metal genre has become an important aspect of our business and continues to be a growing initiative spearheaded by Scott Givens, VP of Metal, of E1 Music.”

Andreas Rennmann of SPV adds, “After a period of restructuring SPV is back in the U.S. Market with a strong catalogue of back titles and new releases. With E1 we’re happy to have a partner that offers a professional setup and has the same passion for music.”

Virginia (USA) thrashers MUNICIPAL WASTE are currently tearing their way around Europe on a headlining tour in support of their new album, MASSIVE AGGRESSIVE. The band are touring with support from VICTIMS and REPROACH, and are set to take their European tour to the UK this weekend for a string of shows.

MUNICIPAL WASTE drummer DAVE WITTE posts from the road:

“The tour has been the best one so far I think. Every country and show has been packed and full of energy. Our first time in Stockholm was incredible.

We have one Norwegian show left in Bergen tonight before we return to the UK, which is basically our second home – can’t wait!! Get ready, we’re coming full force!”

The stellar effort reunites both founding FF members Burton C. Bell and the modern metal master of the “Heavy Guitar Riff” himself, the incomparable Dino Cazares. Guitarist Bruce Kulick is most well known for his twelve year stint in the legendary rock act KISS, but he’s also played for many other big names in music, including MEAT LOAF, MICHAEL BOLTON, UNION (with ex-MÖTLEY CRÜE vocalist John Corabi) and BILLY SQUIER. He has been a full time member of GRAND FUNK RAILROAD since 2001 and is now set to release his third solo record entitled “BK3”, which will be released in North America on February 2nd through Twenty 4 Records/Rocket Science Ventures and in Europe on January 29 via Frontiers Records. The first single from “BK3” was released on January 12th. The rocking track “Hand Of The King”, featuring Nick Simmons (son of KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons), is a digital-only release now available at all online music stores.
