RUMOR: Vince Neil Is Going To Lip Sync All Of MÖTLEY CRÜE’s Songs At “The Stadium Tour”

Troubled MÖTLEY CRÜE singer Vince Neil is in a really desperate situation, according to those closest to the band, because there’s only 3 months remaining until the Crue’s comeback tour kicks off in America, and the word is that the legendary glam vocalist’s singing voice has literally been destroyed by excess booze and partying with huge amounts of cocaine. In fact, Neil has been believed to be tricking fans with lip-sync performance going back to before the last time they said they retired (but didn’t).

However, Vince Neil doesn’t want to talk about it. During a 2015 interview with 105.9 The Brew in Portland, OR, in which the DJ brought up the accusations of lip-syncing, Neil began to get a bit agitated, and ultimately hung up the phone, quitting the interview entirely.

The problem with singers lip-syncing in rock music is nothing new. For years, there has been belief from fans and rockers themselves that certain notable vocalists are pulling a fast one on the paying crowd at live concerts.

The funnest part is that Neil himself long ago condemned this practice in the music industry.

Detroit’s WRIF 101.1 FM once asked Neil to comment on the Ashlee Simpson lip-syncing controversy. “I’m glad (she was exposed on national TV), too, because there’s a lot of people… the majority of the new people that are out there now, these teenagers basically do movies and then figure they can just go out and put out a record,” Neil said.

“The way the technology is today, you can just go in there and sing, and a guy can actually adjust every syllable and every word that you just sang and make it sound amazing. And then these people go on stage, and they have no talent, so they lip-sync. And it’s cheating everybody.”

“I’m glad she got caught. And I’ve seen her sing since then, and she sucks.”

“If you’ve got true talent, you don’t need to do that.”

“There’s some other people that I’ve talked to some producers that… some chicks that have done a couple of albums and sold millions, and they spent weeks and months editing their vocals to make them sound good, and they only spent one day in the studio and did the record – one day. It’s pretty sad.”

“This has gotta stop. It’s not about talent anymore, it’s about money.”

Vince Neil ‘Struggling’ With Motley Crue, Will He Lip Sync?

Completely wiping out a singer’s live vocals to replace with the studio version entirely during a concert is a big ‘no no’ but continues to tarnish the music industry in general.

Believe it or not, Paul Stanley of KISS, during their End of The Road Tour, got exposed for an obvious lip sync failure.

In My Head blog details the shady situation with KISS: “Join me as I show six clips that prove, without a doubt, that Paul Stanley has lip-synced throughout the whole End of the Road tour. Watch as I stack them up against each other as evidence.”

A Rock N Roll Universe forum post 17 years ago, details the shady business going on with the Crue themselves, and how Nikki Sixx himself has been guilty of lip sync, along with the rest of the band.

I saw the Crue on Leno last night, and the background vocals were taped, but the rest of the tune was live…but that’s not new…we saw that screw up pretty bad at the Spike Awards not long ago…actually last night they made it pretty obvious in places, as Nikki backed away from the mic and Mick Mars wasn’t even attempting to sing, but the background vocals were pretty full…Tommy Lee couldn’t have been doing it all alone!

They were enhancing Neil and you are absolutely right, the other guys didn’t even bother to pretend they were singing the background harmonies half the time.
