From the original Cyco, comes one of the best releases in 2011. SUICIDAL TENDENCIES mastermind Mike Muir returns with The Mad Mad Muir Musical Tour, an album which is primarily made up of a bunch of previously unreleased CYCO MIKO and INFECTIOUS GROOVES tracks. That being said, this reviewer is absolutely stoked that these cuts have finally seen the light of day. So, what exactly do you get on this mad mad record? Well, how about 14-rocking-as-all-hell tracks, that includes appearances by Robert Trujillo (Metallica), Fletcher Dragge (Pennywise) and Brooks Wackerman (Ex-ST/IG). My favorites are “Logical Thoughts Of A Lunatic” and “S.lo Death”, easily new classics that are a must hear for any true SUICIDAL fan. The latter tune being one of the more haunting and memorable for sure. It’s obvious Muir still has plenty of gas in the tank, injecting plenty of that “I’m just being straight up” spirit into his lyrics and vocals. How can you not love the pure honesty from this guy… and the fact that he’s still doing his thing the way he wants all these years later? Despite what some might say, this is not some kind of quick cash in while we wait for a new ST release. This material is hands down some of the best stuff he’s released in twenty years. When you listen to several songs ten times each in one week, you know you’ve got something special. The Mad Mad Muir Musical Tour takes the listener on a ‘welcome to the neighborhood, homey’ kinda ride. On the jamming “Got Feelings?”, Muir is at his all-time best, letting it all hang out and loving every moment. If this song don’t make you want to get up and dance like it did for me, you ought to just climb into the casket now. Hell, I’m ready to jump on a deck and head for the Venice Boardwalk myself. Oh yeah, prepare to get funk’d up and thrashed real good by Cyco Miko: “All the way, all the way, all the way… hate you all the way… all the way, all the way, all the way… fight you all the way!”
