There’s only one thing that’s cooler than smoking bowls on a Friday and that’s reviewing a CD sent to you directly from Suicidal Records/Tsunami Label Group by two of your favorite childhood bands: SUICIDAL TENDENCIES and NO MERCY. On No Mercy Fool!/The Suicidal Family the kings of skate punk/thrash metal have essentially re-recorded songs yanked from ST’s classic Join the Army album and some tracks from the 1987 debut of Venice, California’s NO MERCY, vocalist Mike Muir’s long ago band project with renowned ST guitarist Mike Clark. The band’s Widespread Bloodshed… Love Runs Red was the only record the band ever did, and to be point blank… it’s some of the most blazing shit I’ve heard all year long. You and your friends will want to hot box to “We’re F’N Evil” cause, man… this is about as good as it gets with Mike Clark handling rhythm guitar and backing vocals, while Dean Pleasants throws down a lead guitar attack that most of these pussies in the radio rock world are too afraid to play. Longtime Suicidal artist Ric Clayton (RxCx) originally handled the bass for NO MERCY from 1982-1987. Now the low end is brought to you by ST’s Steve ‘Thundercat’ Brunner, and let’s just say that this dude can hold it down with the best of them in the game today. Muir amazingly still sounds like his old self on the final track Widespread Bloodshed… Love Runs Red, singing in his ever murderous tone: “My pulse is rising as you run from me, I start to sweat with pure extacy, I stick it in and now my love runs red”. If you aren’t a fan of this kind of music… you gotta either be stuck on stupid or a Lady Gaga fan. Now if you’ll all excuse me… my next bowl and dose of No Mercy Fool!/The Suicidal Family awaits me.
