Long running American thrash band, ANTHRAX, have released what I believe to be the worst record of their career in 2016. The album title and cover artwork are simply ridiculous, but it’s the actual music itself that is the ultimate letdown for me. I have never hated any album vocalist Joey Belladonna has sung on… until this one. My favorite album all time by this band is 1990’s classic Persistence Of Time. And while I gave their last album Worship Music a stellar review, I’m afraid all I can do for this one is unleash my absolute disdain for this heavy metal snore fest.
Without going too far into exactly just how bad this record is, because I have better shit to do with my life, like take long bowel movements to help me forget about listening to a totally boring collection of uninspired tracks produced by a band that is supposed to be one of the heaviest ever, their really is not one song on the entire album that I can recall actually enjoying from top to bottom. Some of the guitar solos are decent, but other than that, I can not believe that Zakk Wylde’s mostly acoustic solo album rocks harder than this drivel.
Maybe if Scott Ian did less of going around in the media complaining about fans stealing his music by free downloading and actually committed to writing a ‘great’ album then little guy’s music would start selling like hotcakes all over again. How much of a dick is this guy? Ian, takes the time, like so many dickheads in the rock industry as of late to kick Philip H. Anselmo over and over for his ‘Dimebash’ purported racist remark/gesture, only to get sued at the same time for trying to steal a fucking Christmas sweater design that apparently the band thought nobody would notice. It doesn’t get any lamer than that, Den Headz. That is about as metal as Mister Rogers slamming in my kitchen while listening to Annette Funicello. Believe it or not, there is a song on this album entitled “All Of Them Thieves”!
For All Kings earns zero stars in its rating because it failed on just about every level for me, mostly in the ‘rocking hard’ department. Do yourself a favor and go listen to the epic ‘Persistence’ one more time instead, because it helped me forget about how far the mighty have fallen.
