Voodoo Terror Tribe: ALONE IN PAIN (LP)
Reviewed by Rocket
On their debut full length effort, New Jersey’s VOODOO TERROR TRIBE pulls out all the stops for the heavy music listener with the soulfully wicked opening first set of metal crushers: “Prelude To Hate”, “Under The Knife” and “World Of Lies”. All the while drenched in the talented vocals of Harry Dullys, VTT’s ALONE IN PAIN effectively blends the heart-pounding punk-influenced bass play from Primer with chaotic, riff-churning guitar fury from Emir Erkal and seasoned, no-nonesense drumming from T-Bone, heard at their best on the highlight tracks “Looking For Serenity” and “Redrum”. “When I close my eyes, I dream of my own demise”… “Evil hands on me, dreams I don’t wanna see”… I’m afraid of sleeping”… are haunting words tied to the vicious musical display from an explosive progressive thrash metal band that ranges from sounding like old school Biohazard to the rocking “more commercial” sounds of Sevendust, most importantly demonstrating that they can write some tried-and-true heavy metal arrangements that still have radio appeal.
