TMD’s creator Randy “Rocket” Cody takes time out of his hectic schedule to address
the protest that’s going to be staged by Westboro Baptist Church at Dio’s upcoming memorial
on May 30.
“Westboro Baptist Church,
The heavy metal community will not tolerate your ignorant words toward one
of our own: late great vocalist Ronnie James Dio. Your attack on a man who is now
not of this earth is not very Christian.
Ronnie James Dio was NOT a Satanist.
The legendary “Horns” hand sign that Ronnie became so well known for
during his many years in heavy metal music has nothing to do with supporting
Satan or his minions in hell.
If you had half a brain cell in your heads you would know this.
For years, it’s been common knowledge that Ronnie’s Italian grandmother taught him
to use the “Horns” gesture as a young boy to help ward off evil spirits!
You can go ahead and picket Ronnie’s memorial service, sure… but
let’s get one thing clear! The family, friends and fans attending
the event – no matter what – are prepared to celebrate this great musical
legend’s life work with or without your drama.
I do pray you come to your senses sooner rather than later though…
because true Dio fans just might be ready to unleash a bit of the
ole ‘Mob Rules’.
Long live heavy metal and God bless Ronnie James Dio!!
Hails,
Rocket”

Thankfully, people see past their futile attempts at sabotaging. They’re notoriously nuts, and everyone knows it. C’est la vie.
Long live the legend that is Dio!
I am outraged at the judgement that is being passed by these people and am outraged that they think they have a right to protest at his funeral! I believe in God and I throw up the horns and I am in no way satanic. These people have the right to preach in their congregations but have no right disturbing a funeral. He is a person loved by many and his family should not have to deal with the drama that these people have created!
These goons just want attention. The perfect way to get at them is ignore them!…
Just a bunch of bored idiots who didn’t get hugged by mommy and daddy.
