Guitarist Randy Weitzel has issued the following statement on the matter via Facebook:
“Hey guys, I’ve decided to leave my band FLATLINE. I thought you should
hear it from me. I didn’t want to post a bunch of drama but I feel
that the people who have supported me deserve some sort of
explanation… basically things have gotten to the point were we
aren’t able to tour and with no touring we can’t pay off the last
record so that means that there is no next FLATLINE record in sight.
I’ve been pretty patient but the future looks dim. Honestly I can
live without the touring but if there’s no music being made then I have
to split. I think it blows but there’s nothing I can do about it. It
all comes down to money & politics. I have no beef with my band
members…some of us are in this situation because of the expenses of
touring and it is what it is…we gave it Hell. To the fans and people
that have supported this band I thank you from the bottom of my heart
for everything and I hope the guys can figure out a way to keep it
going. So what’s next? Look for a new Rock CD from me
early-mid 2010 and I have a few other surprises that I think FLATLINE
fans will enjoy! It’s a beautiful day people, anything can happen!
Los Angeles, California (USA) based metal band FLATLINE released “Pave The Way” in 2008, which was heralded as a breakthrough album in the underground world of metal.
No word yet on who will be replacing the departed Weitzel.
