After a triumphant European tour that included appearances at the With Full Force and Dour Festivals, Antarctic rock gods GWAR have returned to their ice-bound fortress, to drink blood and begin work on their newest and most gut-crushing album yet. That’s right, right now, at the sorta halfway point of GWAR’s special two-year long 25th Anniversary Slay-a-Bration, Slave Pit Inc. and Metal Blade Records are proud to announce the title of GWAR’s new album.

“Our new album is called Bloody Pit of Horror,” said ODERUS URUNGUS, front-thing and leading female impersonator. ‘We are fully aware that there is a movie of the same title, I assure you it has nothing to do with it, save the title, which we stole from them...

TMD unearths one of the earliest known live ‘audience recordings’ of legendary rock act KISS performing “Deuce” at Bayou Theatre in Georgetown, Washington DC on March 25, 1974. This was the first official KISS tour, after the band had initially broke through the club scene and began to tour in support of their self-titled debut album, KISS, which was released on February 18, 1974 through Casablanca Records. This concert was only the fourth date of the tour and they played two shows on this historic night as you’ll hear the emcee say when introducing them.

ROCKET REVIEW: THRODL – “No Honour In Exile” (CD)

tmd
tmd

Reading, PA’s THRODL has released their third full-length record entitled No Honour In Exile via DRP Records. Mixing elements of death/hardcore with old school punk and thrash, they’ve crafted a seriously wicked concept album that, get this, follows the life of a female serial killer named Lydia who “found a marriage in a blade”. Mixed by Mike Radka and DRP’s owner, Frank Phobia, the thirteen tracks offered up here tell the disturbing story in a highly effective manner through the lyrics. My favorite song is track four’s “Ruthless”, for the growling vocals from Brad Roche are as scary sounding as the thought of a woman stabbing a knife into the chest of a person...

“I would like to inform all of our fans that on Saturday, August 21, at the Summer Breeze festival in Germany, I will be doing my last show with Dark Funeral. Naturally I have ‘mixed feelings’ about this decision, but it is final! They say that every person will have about 15min of fame during their life! Well, I have had a ‘hell-of-a-ride’ for 15 years now together with Lord Ahriman and Dark Funeral. As some people love to spread weird rumors about others, let me make this clear once and for all...

Christofer Johnsson, the creative force behind Sweden’s genre-defying THERION, has issued the following statement:

“Now that we have posted Nalle(y)’s message to the fans, I’ll give some comments on it myself.

“Naturally, it may sound worrisome that there has been announced two changes in the live line-up in such a short time frame. But the Nalle situation is not something that has happened recently; we have known this could be the case since last year and we have had a replacement ready for months...

TMD unearths a rare audio clip from 1990 of legendary rock act KISS doing an interview in a New York City rehearsal studio right before the start of the band’s infamous “Hot In The Shade” tour. At the start of the clip is Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons trying their hand at some classic songs by THE BEATLES. The first one is “Help!” and the second is “Please Please Me”. In the KISS lineup at this point in time was Bruce Kulick on lead guitar and the late great Eric Carr on drums.

THE BEATLES were certainly a major role model for KISS and this interview indeed shows the hottest band in the land has always had a lot of respect and admiration for the Fab Four’s incredible musical legacy...
