Vince Neil Cancels RokIsland Fest Solo Appearance, Diagnosed With Covid-19

Troubled MÖTLEY CRÜE vocalist Vince Neil can’t catch a break. The singer has fallen ill with Covid-19 and is seriously sick according to those closest to the glam metal icon.

Neil has decided to cancel his solo band’s appearance at RokIsland Festival.

In a statement released through RokIsland’s social media, Neil laments the cancelation, notes, “I am okay but this thing [COVID] is really kickin’ my ass,” and apologizes to the festival’s organizers and the fans.

“I am disappointed to say the least. I was so looking forward to this show,” he adds, “I am hopeful that I will have the opportunity to make this up in 2024.”

Read the full statement below and for more information, visit the RokIsland website.

No word on if Vince will be calling off his gig with Stephen Pearcy later in the month.

Here is Vince’s official cancellation statement for RokIsland Festival:

Hello RokIsland Friends,

I am sad to report that yesterday I was diagnosed with Covid. I am okay but this thing is really kickin’ my ass. All that being said, I am unable to perform at RokIsland Fest next week. I would like to extend my sincerest apologies to the RokIsland Fest organizers and most of all my friends and fans. I am disappointed to say the least. I was so looking forward to this show.

I am hopeful that I will have the opportunity to make this up in 2024.

In closing, I wish all the attendees of RokIsland Fest 2023 a fun and exciting time with all the other amazing acts.”

Word going around Crue’s camp is that there are planned rehearsals for potentially a singer to replace Vince Neil, should his illness keep him down too long – and TMD has learned that ex-CREED singer Scott Stapp is apparently at the top of the list to be invited to try out. The Crue is scheduled to begin their World Tour shortly and there is no guarantee if Neil will be ready to go when the bell sounds. The Crue has back-to-back dates in Atlantic City, on February 10th and 11th via Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena.

Is there something possibly deeper going on that might be the reason that Vince is sitting out his solo shows? TMD broke the sensational story that Nikki Sixx is displeased with Neil’s solo band performing Crue songs. TMD also was the first to break the story big about Mick leaving the band two weeks before any other rock or metal webzine. Word is that Mick was fired by Sixx and told not to ever return to his duties as guitarist.

Why the possible replacement of Neil so late in the game? It is a business move that might be the only way Crue saves their World Tour comeback.

Speculation that Neil was on a downward spiral began with the haunting revelation by ex-Crue limo driver Al Bowman, who claimed the glam singer was drinking himself to death. In recent years, Neil has struggled mightily during solo concerts, including losing his voice and quitting, plus falling off the stage and breaking his ribs. Then he and Tommy Lee were rumored to have gotten into a fight during the final band rehearsal for The Stadium Tour over Lee’s incessant fat-shaming of the rotund vocalist, which is what led to Lee sabotaging their concerts and being caught fake drumming along with a backing track, believe it or not.
