Austria’s FAR BEYOND INNOCENCE has self-released “Torture Circus”, a rampaging debut full-length that does not let up from start to finish, proudly showing the rest of the world – with an all-out maniacal glee – there’s something even cooler that the Central European country has produced other than Arnold Schwarzenegger. Within moments after the first track “See You In Hell” begins, with its unrelenting drum pummeling and double-barreled blast of sheer guitar decimation from Johann ‘Godfather’ Bogl, it’s easy to understand just how serious these Austrians take their heavy metal music. Track two is “The Day I Tried To Die” and showcases the razor-throated vocalist Vermes even better than the opening song, perfectly matched in musical intensity by the furious double-bass pounding from Re-Nar5.
Track three is “Devil In Your Fairyland” and for this reviewer clearly stands out as the act’s most thrashing, next followed by the violently ass-kicking “Two Minutes Of Hate”, “Ministry Of Fear”, and “Green Fuckmachine”, all of which demonstrate highly inventive songwriting talents and a desire to scare the holy shit out of its listener. Lucky track number seven is “Brainsucker” and it comes off more angry than its
predecessors, with a killer doomsday riff in it that sounds one part Slayer and one part end of the world.
Up next, the Pantera influenced “Pigmy Headhunters” knocks you back with its super-psycho head banging, groove. Just when you thought they would run out of steam as most bands do, the final blitzkrieg comes hard and heavy in the form of “Enemy” and “Immortal Man”, but it’s the last song “As One” that will leave fans wanting more from The Terminator’s demonic country mates – as it hits you straight in the stomach with its serious passion for true metal execution.
