New York death metal act FIRE FOR EFFECT has released a new song of the same name, available for streaming below.
Launched in early 2017, the band is composed of metal veterans Gio Geraca (ex-Malevolent Creation), Tony Choy (Atheist, ex-Cynic, Pestilence), Bret Hoffman (ex-Malevolent Creation), Mike Smith (ex-Suffocation), and Eric Bukowski.
Fire For Effect is currently working on material for the debut full-length, expected to surface late this year.
Fire For Effect formed at the beginning of 2017 when guitarist Gio Geraca recruited singer and former band mate Bret Hoffman, drummer Mike Smith, bass player Tony Choy and 2nd guitarist Eric Bukowski The band members already knew each other from their previous and present bands like Suffocation, Pestilence and Malevolent Creation. Fire for Effect was influenced by old school war/death metal bands like Bolt Thrower, as well as newer bands like Amon Amarth. As guitarist Gio Geraca relates, the band formed ” this band came to light after me and singer Bret Hoffman exited Malevolent Creation and spoke about a possible new project bringing back some old school war metal values with some added Nordic atmosphere, we felt this balance was sorely missing from todays metal.”
The band is currently recording songs on a 3 song promotional CD. Gio Geraca said “it is unclear at this point if we will self release a debut album or release it with a record company”. “We are getting a ton of offers from merchandise, tours and financing and we haven’t even released a song yet, were taking things strategically slow right now”.
