Perhaps it was the temper tantrum thrown by frontman James Hetfield after the disastrous ‘mic fail’ incident at this year’s Grammys. Or maybe Lars was coming on too strong. The bottom line, it is starting to look like this whole Gaga joining METALLICA deal was either a really cruel joke… or Gaga has declined the open offer to become their new trusty co-lead singer.
In late February, a report circulated about Lars apparently inviting Gaga to join the band as a 5th member out on their upcoming U.S. tour, whenever her busy, Jet set lifestyle permits.
Although the original idea of such an epic collaboration looked great on paper to many, the actual execution at the Grammmys debacle proved it is still not such a sure thing by any stretch of the imagination. Let’s face it. They dropped the ball in front of more fans than ever before. Frontman James Hetfield had every right to get angry.
“We get offstage, we get [backstage], and I haven’t seen him like that in 20 years,” Ulrich confessed to Late Late Show host James Corden. “I mean he was livid. He’s aged really well and he’s a pretty chill guy, but the first five or 10 minutes in that dressing room was not a lot of fun.”
LADY GAGA INVITED TO JOIN METALLICA AS “CO-LEAD SINGER”
(A Worldwide Published Headline Not Yet Disputed By Either Metallica or Lady Gaga)
Since then, Lars and Gaga have gone totally radio silent, in terms of speaking to the media in the past two weeks about the situation. Lars did his best to keep trying to push the idea on anyone at the start after his band made its not so smashing debut with the superstar pop diva. Gaga herself has not done one Q&A since the Grammy performance that was seen by over twenty six million people. Did she decide to leave well enough alone and turn down the prestigious chance at jamming again live with the biggest metal band?
“I see Metal Heads.”
Drummer Lars Ulrich went on the record about Gaga: “She’s a very, I think for Metallica, a very organic [collaborator], sort of authentic, natural – it’s not forced. Without being disrespectful, but occasionally in these circumstances, the pairings seems a little forced, slightly less organic.
“I think we can say that without offending anybody. And I think in our case, it literally just felt like she was the fifth member of our band for the whole weekend [around the Grammys show].”
