METALLICA – Lars Ulrich Wants To Be The Frontman

If you thought Lars and James lost their minds when they reportedly invited Lady Gaga to join METALLICA after the disastrous Grammy awards performance, you should be even less thrilled to learn about the idea supposedly being kicked around currently between the band’s egotistical co-founders, who now apparently want to switch roles in the group.

Yes, you read that correctly. Lars wants to front the biggest metal act in the world and have James take over on drums.

A new report has been posted by Alistair Clout of abc.net Australia:

Metallica: James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich’s ongoing battle leading towards swap

Scratching your head yet? Todd Killiam of 93.7 KCLB last May published the following report:

Metallica Almost Made Lars Ulrich The Frontman

This article claims former Metallica manager Johnny Zazula said in the band’s early days they were thinking about Lars Ulrich as the frontman.

He also said James was an introvert and had stage fright when it came to performing vocals.

“Lars and I planned a lot of stuff. But James wasn’t the most confident of singers. I don’t think he felt comfortable. At one point there was even talk of Lars becoming the frontman…”

So if you believe all of these past reports, it’s seeming like Metallica very soon could look a lot different to fans, with Lady Gaga joining as lead co-singer, and Hetfield swapping spots with Ulrich… our beloved thrash masters could sadly morph into a 21st century version of Swedish pop group ABBA.
