NWOBHM legends, DIAMOND HEAD, are back in 2016 with a new self-titled studio album. Led by founding guitarist, Brian Tatler, the lineup features their new vocalist named Rasmus Bom Andersen, and I was immediately blown away by his incredible vocal prowess. On the opening cuts, I was totally rocked back in my seat by how great the music sounded. Any fan of well produced rock music will be knocked out by the powerful “Bones”, “Shout At The Devil”, and my personal favorite, “Set My Soul On Fire”, the latter has a really cool DIO-feel to it. Drummer Karl Wilcox, along with bassist Eddie Moohan and guitarist Abbz, do a terrific job driving the grooving rhythm ahead. Up next things are turned up a notch with the jamming “See You Rise”, “All The Reasons You Live”, a true gem that really gives singer Rasmus Bom Andersen the proper spotlight to show off his golden pipes – and the pummeling “Wizard Sleeve”… man, this one is so good it has to be heard to be believed. The epic “Our Time Is Now” left me speechless. The momentum does now let up either as they unleash more rocking greatness with the killer tunes “Speed” and “Blood On My Hands”. The album concludes with “Diamonds” and “Silence”, and the take away for me is simple. This band has miraculously delivered one of the finest hard rock records of 2016.
