Polish death metal band VADER return in 2014 with a contender for best metal album of the year in the form of their stellar new studio effort, “Tibi Et Igni” – which is a Latin phrase that translates “For You And Fire”. Released via Nuclear Blast Records, it’s the follow-up to 2011’s epic “Welcome To The Morbid Reich” and it’s absolutely fucking brutal from start to finish. The album was recorded at Hertz Studio in Bialystok, Poland and was produced by Wojtek and Slawek Wiesawski.
The mayhem starts with the totally punishing “Go To Hell”, followed by the intense “Where Angels Weep” and raging “Armada On Fire”. Vocalist/guitarist Piotr “Peter” Wiwczarek sounds demonic as hell on this album. The death metal drumming by James Stewart is beyond top notch. My personal favorite, however, is the next cut “Triumph of Death”. This song has got a really killer groove and just knocked my dick into the dirt. The next track “Hexenkessel” is a devastating masterpiece, and features a hellacious guitar solo. No doubt guitarists Spider and Peter deserve a special award for keeping the menacing riffs coming at high speed. It does not get any better than this.
The momentum continues as the next tracks rip apart my stereo speakers in sheer fury. The rampaging “Abandon All Hope”, followed by “Worms Of Eden” and “The Eye Of The Abyss” are all winners. The fury concludes with the brilliant “Light Reaper” and the slowed down “The End”. Any fan of extreme metal music will want to add this gem to their collection, and I urge any other listeners that don’t think this kind of music is well written needs to listen to this album. “Tibi et Igni” is a monster of a record and I’m sure when all is said and done it will be at the top of every critics list for best of 2014.
