Floridian grindcore outfit MARUTA will disband for good following a final show in early-December.
Formed in 2005, the band has put out two albums with Willowtip Records. As you may recall, Maruta co-founder Nick Augusto left the band in late-2009 to join Trivium.
Frontman Mitchell Luna sent Lambgoat the following statement late last night:
“We have officially called it quits. We beat the horse to death, brought it back to life, dragged it around, and beat it to death again enough times already to call it a day.
“The road took its toll, and core member/guitar player Eduardo Borja decided to leave the band right after we got back from Europe last month. He left to focus on personal matters and his family, and we all wish him the best of luck.
“Myself being the only original member of the band since 2009, it was decided that carrying on with yet another line-up chance wouldn’t make any sense. We will be playing one last show in Miami December 4th, and then we put this beast to sleep for good.
“I would just like to take a quick moment to thank every single person that ever supported us in any way shape or form. I and the rest of the band have met some really incredible people throughout this 6 year mis-adventure, and have gotten the opportunity to visit plenty of places we would have otherwise not been able to see.
“Although Maruta is dead, you can expect to see us involved in other musical projects in the near future. Cheers.”
Maruta’s final show will take place on Sunday, December 4th at Churchills in Miami, Florida.
