It’s been 43 years since he formed his greatest band and more than three decades since they broke up, but such is the enduring devotion for Jimmy Page – and LED ZEPPELIN – that a new website created by the heavy-rock guitar wizard is likely to attract a whole lotta love from fans.
Now launched, jimmypage.com is a vast archive of material from the Led Zep era, as well as from Page’s other musical ventures, including Sixties outfit the Yardbirds (through whose doors fellow guitar heroes Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton also passed), Page and Plant (the duo he formed with Zeppelin’s banshee vocalist Robert Plant), and his association with American rockers the Black Crowes.
In addition to a discography and an extensive collection of photos, there are detailed lists of Page’s live performances. Thus we learn, for instance, that on June 2, 1973, Zeppelin played the “rickety” Kezar Stadium in San Francisco. Local newspapers reported that the music could be heard half a mile away, “while nearby hospital patients complained of the noise”.
If you were there – at the gig, not the hospital – you can leave your mark on the page.
