Amid the waves of fleeting sounds and passing fads, one new band genuinely stands true to their roots- Ankla. Produced by Bob Marlette (Black Sabbath, Iommi, Halford, Evanescence), Ankla’s full-length debut, ‘Steep Trails,’ is packed with volatile tracks blending the piercing power of modern metal with hues of latin percussion. The energy on the album never dies out once it builds in the opener “Intro – Sinking,” shoving the listener into a whirlwind of guitar licks and invigorating beats.

Songs like “Deceit” fuse the heat of unique guitar melodies, beastly backbone, and steady-though-speedy beats— all creating one spicy assault that will leave you bloodthirsty and ready for attack. This is one of those records that will always push your adrenaline- from start to finish, from first spin to 500th, Ankla’s unmatched creativity and energy does not wear down. The band proves this in venues across the country– after pounding their presence from state to state in Ozzfest 2007, the band has toured with the likes of Devildriver, In This Moment, Nonpoint, Skinlab, and more.
Though no plans are set, 2008 could be a massive year for Ankla- whether they hit the road again or head into the studio to craft the followup to the colorful groove and earth-rattling roar of ‘Steep Trails.’ Keep your tabs on this band… you’ll want to know what they’re slamming down next.
