John 5 Wants You To Believe MÖTLEY CRÜE Is Going To Release A New Full-Length Album One Day: “It’s pretty magical”

John 5 can’t seem to keep his story straight lately. With the mounting pressure the Mick Mars’ lawsuit and the 72 year old legend’s new music has placed on the younger guitarist shoulders to complete a new Crue full-length album, which would be the band’s first full studio record in 16 years, it appears there are cracks starting to form in the narrative Sixx and Kovac are trying to sell to the public. No doubt the clock is ticking, so it’s put up or shut up time.

Let’s not forget that John 5, the puppet on strings, initially said he was not going to replace Mick Mars, that those rumors were not true, remember? But then TMD exposed the truth and forced Nikki Sixx to admit that Mick was out of the band.

John 5 recently was interviewed and backtracked again, after being quoted previously as saying the band might only release some “singles” and not a full album. This comes on the heels of Tommy Lee admitting that the band “only completed 3 songs, not a full album.”

“Get set for a new album from Motley Crue and this could be a really great one … and new chemistry.” MÖTLEY CRÜE guitarist John 5 has told Illinois Entertainer.

John 5 stressed that the band is continuing to work on new material. “We have recorded some songs with [longtime MÖTLEY CRÜE producer] Bob Rock.”

“Just the other day, Nikki [Sixx, MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist] called me and he was playing guitar over the phone and he’ll play a riff, and he’ll sing this melody, and it sounded like it could be something off of [MÖTLEY CRÜE’s debut album] ‘Too Fast For Love’. It’s just natural for him to write these songs that I have loved and lots of other people have loved.

There is only one problem with this fairytale John 5 is telling us. Nikki Sixx can’t play the guitar or bass, and has never actually recorded on any Crue record that was released by a record label. Nor has Sixx ever written one lyric. The truth is that ghost performers are more than likely being brought into the studio, not just ghost bassists, guitarists, drummers and singers, but also lyricists.

John 5 says: I think we’re always going to make new music, because, man, this guy is pumping out amazing lyrics and great music. When we all get together, it’s pretty magical.”

ON HIS OWN

John 5 is also an accomplished solo artist, releasing ten studio albums and completing many successful headlining club tours. In fact, John 5 exclaims that he’s so dedicated to playing live that he’s going to be doing a winter tour that will make its way to our blustery city on February 1 at the Arcada Theater. “I’m excited to get back there and I love it so much I even come in the dead winter,” John 5 exclaims. “(Chicago) is familiar to me. I know it sounds a little hokey, but I know where everything is. I know where these record stores are, and I know where the drug store is, and I know where the good, cool restaurants are. I know where everything is around there. And the crowds—and I’m not just saying this—the crowds are incredible in the Midwest.”

The John 5 and the Creatures’ winter tour is his first solo tour since joining Mötley Crüe, and he’s expecting it to be something special. It will also be the type of show that he’s never attempted before. Armed with only his drummer, Alex Mercado, John 5 will perform a two-man show by playing bass, the banjo, the mandolin, and, of course, the guitar. Rounding out the set will include an updated cover song medley, which is a highlight of John 5’s solo live shows. By wearing all the hats, John 5 will be taking the audience on one wild ride, including a Mötley Crüe cover medley. “Then I’m doing some new songs and some old songs, of course, but it is going to be a wild ride because the song list goes in so many avenues. I don’t think anybody will get bored because one song will be playing this style, and the other song will play this (other) style. So it goes up and down so much where you don’t get tired of just one thing.”
