Dickie Peterson, the founding bassist and vocalist for incredibly heavy, riff-laden American hard rock trio BLUE CHEER, passed away early on Monday (October 12th) morning. The group’s first hit was a cover version of Eddie Cochran’s “Summertime Blues” from their debut album Vincebus Eruptum in 1968. The single reached #14 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, their only notable hit, and the album peaked at #11 on the Billboard 200 chart.
The band, along with BLACK SABBATH, will always be regarded as one of the pioneers of the heaviest music on the planet: HEAVY METAL!
TMD salutes Dickie Peterson and sends our condolences to his fans, friends and family.
