Did Scott Stapp Put A Stop To Mick Mars Solo Album?

MÖTLEY CRÜE‘s ex lead guitarist Mick Mars is waging war versus his old band mates… and Scott Stapp of CREED? In what is developing to be the craziest story in the rock music world in a long time, Mars behind closed doors insists that Stapp is the reason Sixx sicked the legal hounds on him to stop the release of Mick’s highly anticipated debut solo album (or at least keep pushing back the official release). As the story goes, some of the riffs on the new Mars solo tunes were purportedly lifted from earlier Crue songwriting sessions and apparently Sixx feels that Mars stepped over the line by stealing these tracks and using them to promote his own individual brand and not the Crue’s.

He was not privy to any of this because Mick has kept his solo album top secret pretty much and only let a few people like ex-Crue singer John Corabi be involved in the songwriting and production. Mick has not let Wiggy Sixx, Fakey Lee or Vince Meal know one detail about his solo album.

Stapp somehow managed to hear the songs on Mick’s album through his association with former Crue and Vince Neil producer Marty Frederiksen.

Mick Mars launched a lawsuit against his old band earlier this year, and all sorts of speculation has been going on about what really happened to the 72-year-old guitar icon’s position in the Crue. Was it really his back problems that forced him to retire? Or was he secretly fired for making a racial slur on camera? Is it the backing tracks scandal? Is it his solo album that is the cause of the blow out that went down between Mars and Sixx? What really happened?

The word coming out of the Crue’s camp is that Stapp was brought into the Crue’s inner circle by Frederiksen and Tommy Lee. He was offered the chance to replace Vince Neil full time in the band but he turned it down, so that he could reunite with CREED in 2024, just as TMD reported earlier this year. However, he did accept the offer to help recreate Vince Neil’s studio vocals with AI technology.

Now Sixx used “the dirt” he had on Mars making the racial slur as a way to force Mars to accept a demotion in the band and reduce his shares in the Crue. That is why Sixx covered everything up along the way, and used the “back disease” story to push Mick out the door. Very shrewd and very fucked up!
