Mexican death grinders BRUJERIA have just announced the death of their leader and co-founder Juan Brujo (aka John Lepe). The 61-year-old musician passed away as a result of a heart attack, with the group offering the below statement today, September 18th, via Facebook:
“It is with deep sadness we have to announce that our leader Juan Brujo has passed away today.
Juan suffered a heart attack on early Monday morning, after a day off from the current ‘Mexorcista’ tour in Saint Clairsville, Ohio. He was rushed to the nearest hospital in Wheeling, West Viriginia by emergency services, but, despite the medical team’s greatest efforts, he died this morning.
His family, friends and bandmates are devastated and wish to mourn in private, while they appreciate the fans’ love and support.”
News of Brujo‘s passing follows the band canceling their touring plans earlier this week, citing a severe medical emergency at the time. Sadly, Brujo‘s passing arrives roughly a month after the death of the group’s vocalist/sampler Ciriaco “Pinche Peach” Quezada, who who died as a result of serious heart complications.
