TMD unearths a rare pre-vocal mix recording of “Celebration Day” by the band widely considered to be the founders of heavy metal music: LED ZEPPELIN. The mix for the song includes only bass, drums and guitar. This track is known to have been recorded at some point during May and August of 1970. It is believed to have been composed primarily at a remote cottage in Wales known as Bron-Yr-Aur. “Celebration Day” is the third song off Zep’s masterful Led Zeppelin III record. The band’s manager Peter Grant served as the record’s executive producer.

As the story goes, vocalist Robert Plant’s lyrics for the song are in reference to his impressions of the city of New York. At points during Zep’s 1971 concert tour of the US, Plant would introduce the track as “The New York Song”.

The listener is in store for a truly remarkable musical journey as you hear Bonham, Jones and Page in their rawest form ever.
