SLAYER held their celebration of life for their late guitarist Jeff Hanneman today, May 23rd. The event was open to the public and took place at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, CA. Various friends, family, musicians and fans attended the affair which saw Hanneman‘s Slayer bandmate Kerry King, Metal Blade founder Brian Slagel, Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo, System Of A Down‘s Shavo Odadjian, Dino Paredes (American Recordings,) Nick Bowcott (Marshall Amplification) and more take to the stage to speak and share stories about Hanneman.
Fan-filmed footage from the memorial has begun to surface online with some clips available HERE. Hanneman passed away earlier this month at the age of 49. His official cause of death was listed as ‘alcohol related cirrhosis.’
