DJ AM was a one time member of 90’s alternative rap metal unit CRAZY TOWN. The act’s debut album from 1999 “The Gift of Game” was certified Platinum by the RIAA. The group’s biggest highlight came when they performed at Ozzfest in 2001.
CRAZY TOWN has seen its fair share of tragedy, including the 2004 heart attack of vocalist/guitarist Rust Epique and the ongoing (and very public) drug addiction of lead vocalist Seth “Shifty Shellshock”
Binzer, who was featured on VH1’s Celebrity Rehab in 2008.
An initial autopsy performed on DJ AM – who was found dead in his New York apartment on Aug 28th – was unable to determine the true cause of his death. A bag of crack and a used pipe was also found at the scene. The results of an official toxicology report are expected in a few weeks.
