American thrashers WARBRINGER have issued the following update:
“So we got back last week from our “European Siege” tour and what a time it was. The tour was full of all kinds of ups and downs, and unlike most tours where we are with the same bands and same people every day, this time we were on our own with a revolving door of people coming in and out depending on the show.
We started out flying into London, and then connecting a day later to go to Helsinki, Finland (our first time there) to perform at the fantatsic Nummirock Festival alonsgide bands like Arch Enemy, Hatebreed, Amorphis and our old touring mates from last summer Napalm Death. As the festival was at the equinox it was still not dark outside at 4 in the morning when the alcoholic rage at the hotel finally winded down. Finnish hotels have saunas, which is completely sweet. Do not try to have a beer sauna, it smells fucking awful.
We returned to London where we met our tour manager, and got our touring van/trailer, merch and the equipment we’d be using for the next 5 weeks and played The Scala with Sacred Reich, who we would play with and see several times on this run. Them and their crew turned out to be awesome dudes.
From there we went into Germany and started playing our first European headline dates. Since we’ve never tried this before we weren’t sure what to expect, but people turned out and went fucking wild and made pretty much all the club shows excellent for us. So thank you guys! Of special note was the show in Bochum, where half the crowd was onstage headbanging for pretty much the whole set. Fucking badass!
We also hit several other festivals on this tour, which is always a helluva time, including Kansas City Live, Boren Mysteria, Rock Am Bach, Fortarock and Zabbaduschder. Some standouts were the Graspop Metal Meeting this year was the largest show we have ever played, we even had more people watching us there then at Wacken last year. The stage manager screwed up and thought our set was over 10 minutes before it actually was, but we figured this out after we left the stage, and convinced the stage manager of this in time to let us come back out and play “Combat Shock”. Thanks to all who stuck around!
Also of note was the With Full Force festival in Germany, the first major festival we did main stage on. We played in the early afternoon so we spent the next 9 or so hours hanging about by the free Jager tent and playing Rock Band… poorly. At some point later (this is not in strict chronological sequence, as the recollection is blurry) we ended up in the mountains of Slovenia at Metalcamp, the muddiest festival of the tour. Show ended up great, and the scenery was fucking epic. Ran into Napalm dudes there again, fucking badass. Also did a couple of shows with Hatebreed out in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. They were cool dudes and got us totally wasted, thanks! Ha. Had never been to Slovakia before, apparently there they drink this liquor called “Hrushka”, which is made of pear. Hrushka is fucking brutal.
After all this, which was a month, we went up to England for the final leg of the tour, 6 shows with Testament and Onslaught! Excellent shows, thanks to all who came, and thanks to the Testament and Onslaught guys for being rad. After the Bristol gig most of the whole tour went and drank in this pub that was founded in 1500 or something like that, which is fucking crazy if you think about it. People have been getting hammered and raging in that same exact place for 500 something years! Shit!
So now we’ll be home for the month of August but we already played one show in a sweltering box full of maniacs at The Mutant House in Chino, California with our bros in Exmortus, Hexen so thanks to all who came and raged. Now we’ll spend most of the month off, which is the longest stretch of time off without any band work to do since we came out with the first album. Never fear, though, because coming up at the end of the month is 2 shows in Mexico with Sadistic Intent, Fueled by Fire, and Sothis and then the tour with Obituary, Krisiun, Goatwhore, and the Berzerker in September.
I just saw Judas Fucking Priest last night though, which got me all fired up again, so I don’t expect we will just be sitting on our asses for the next 3 weeks. I think we are gonna get cracking on some new material already, as everybody seems recharged on ideas so we are already gonna start laying the groundwork for the next album.
As always, see you out on the road!
