MÖTLEY CRÜE’s Tommy Lee Thinks Sobriety Is No Joke: “You Could Probably Die!”

MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee serves as a beacon of hope for his troubled friend and bandmate, Vince Neil, since he himself suffered from the devastating effects of alcohol abuse for many years and found himself ultimately going to rehab for one month once he knew he’d finally hit rock bottom. With over two years of sobriety under his belt today, Lee is a shining example of someone who faced his demons head on and conquered them.

“I didn’t notice it until towards the end of it, when I was like, ‘Oh dude, I’ve got to stop,’” Lee told Yahoo Entertainment.

“Like, I was drinking just out of boredom. I would just wake up and be just building [a glass with] just all vodka and just a little eyedropper of cranberry or lemonade. I was drinking two gallons — not pints, not quarts, but gallons, the big-handles — a day. That’s f*cking crazy,” he continued.

Lee’s triumph versus the bottle has been overshadowed by Vince Neil’s complicated addictions of eating and drinking too much. Now it’s being reported that Neil has checked into a rehab and is finally getting the help he needs.

Lee now reconnected with his estranged son, Brandon, and his life is better than it has ever been.

As the story goes, Vince Neil was approached by fellow rocker, Ozzy Osbourne, who begged Neil to do something to save his life before it’s too late.

Lee himself came to grips with the fact that he was potentially compromising his health in a serious way.

‘I just realized, “Whoa dude, you’re drinking enough to like, you could probably die.”‘

And that was when his wife Brittany put together an intervention to get Tommy help.

“She was like, ‘Baby, I don’t think I’ve ever even seen anybody drink that much. Like, you’re kind of scaring me,’” the Mötley Crüe member said. “She was definitely concerned, and her concern obviously helped in my decision to just go get outta here,” he said. “I bailed for over a month and just was like, ‘That’s it, I’m done for a while.’”

MÖTLEY CRÜE have twice postponed a comeback tour due to Covid-19, although it now looks like Neil’s continuous problems with staying healthy mentally and physically is the main concern for the band being able to reunite in grand fashion.

“Vincent Neil Wharton, lead singer for the heavy-metal band Motley Crue, is known to his fans as a hard-driving rock ‘n’ roller who once bragged that he drank a case of beer and a half a fifth of gin on his days off.”

Ex-Crue limo driver Al Bowman recently spoke out about the tragic downward spiral of Vince Neil, expressing concern that the singer is drinking himself to death.

Fans will recall Vince Neil was charged with vehicular manslaughter back in the early eighties when he killed the drummer of HANOI ROCKS named Razzle.
