According to TMZ, Marilyn Manson turned himself into LAPD this past Friday, July 2nd to face two misdemeanor simple assault charges for an incident at an August 18th, 2019 show in Gilford, NH. During that concert, Manson was seen to have spit on the camera of a videographer hired by the venue to film the show. The incident itself was being broadcast to the big screen behind Manson at the time. Fan-filmed footage of that can be found below with the spitting incident taking place at 1:30 in.
An arrest warrant had first been issued by the Gilford, NH police regarding the incident back in October 2019. Manson is said to have been booked on the charges last Friday and was released on the conditions he have no contact with the alleged victim and will attend all his future court hearings in relation to the matter.
The assault charges were laid due to some of Manson‘s spit allegedly making contact with the videographer. The authorities stated that the spitting constitutes “unprivileged physical contact.”
Speaking this past May ahead of Manson turning himself in, his attorney Howard King stated:
“It is no secret to anyone who has attended a Marilyn Manson concert that he likes to be provocative on stage, especially in front of a camera. This misdemeanor claim was pursued after we received a demand from a venue videographer for more than $35,000 after a small amount of spit came into contact with their arm. After we asked for evidence of any alleged damages, we never received a reply. This whole claim is ludicrous, but we remain committed to cooperating with authorities, as we have done throughout.”
A counter-statement issued by Deputy police Chief Kristian Kelley of Gilford, NH last month offered:
“The victim reported the alleged crime to us the day after she had been assaulted, which is contrary to a statement Mr. Warner’s LA-based attorney made regarding the fact the victim had been looking for a $30k payout and when turned down proceeded with filing a police report. That is emphatically false.”
In addition to facing allegations of abusive behavior from well over a dozen women, Manson is currently being sued by several ex-girlfriends and his former personal assistant for claims that range from sexual assault and human trafficking to death threats, harassment and more.
