METALLICA – Robert Trujillo Departs Band, Jason Newsted Rejoins Lineup

METALLICA‘s lead guitarist Kirk Hammett has reportedly let the cat out of the bag, concerning the purported departure of longtime bassist for the band, Robert Trujillo. A Twitter post shared by Kirk simply stated: “Welcome back, Jason!” However, the post was quickly deleted afterward, although TMD grabbed a screenshot, which can be seen down below.

Metallica is apparently working on new material for their next studio album, and it looks like Jason Newsted will be making his official return to the fold during production of the record, which at one time was said to also include the vocals of the band’s new 5th member, Lady Gaga.
