Metal supergroup HELLYEAH have scored their first gold record in the United States. Their self-titled 2007 debut album was newly certified as such on February 25th, 2021 by the RIAA. In addition to members and alumni of Mudvayne and Nothingface, the band also featured Vinnie Paul (ex-Pantera) on drums up until his 2018 death.
Stone Sour‘s Roy Mayorga was brought in to handle the percussion for the band on the live front while supporting their final album with Paul, 2019’s “Welcome Home“. It is presently unclear if the group will be moving forward with any further new material in the wake of Paul‘s passing.
A platinum album in the United States represents 1,000,000 units, while gold signifies 500,000 units. Outside of traditional physical/digital sales, the certifications factor in digital streams/downloads with 10 permanent track downloads counting as 1 unit and 1500 on-demand audio/video streams from a particular album also counting as as a unit.
