DEFTONES – Album ‘Ohms’ Debuts In Top 5

Ohms, the ninth studio album from California alternative metal unit DEFTONES, has debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 after selling 49,000 equivalent album units in its first week of release in the United States. Of that total, 43,000 came from album sales while the remainder were comprised of nearly 8 million on-demand streams of the band’s songs.

Additionally, Ohms sold 14,000 vinyl copies, making it the top-selling vinyl LP for the week.

Deftones’ previous album, Gore, sold 71,000 copies in its debut week and bowed at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, the group’s highest appearance on said chart since their 2003 self-titled album.

Going back further, Koi No Yokan (2012) sold 65,000 copies in its debut week and landed at No. 11 on the Billboard 200. The group’s 2010 outing Diamond Eyes yielded similar results, with 62,000 sold in its first week and a No. 6 showing on the Billboard 200.

Meanwhile, Diamond Eyes (2010) sold 62,000 in its first week, good enough for a No. 6 debut on the Billboard 200.

To date, the group’s debut LP, Adrenaline, which celebrated its 25 anniversary over the weekend, is the only Deftones album to never appear on the Billboard 200, though it was eventually certified Platinum by the RIAA.
