Legendary drummer Lee Kerslake has reportedly passed away at the age of 73 following “a lengthy battle with prostate cancer.” Beyond his work with Uriah Heep, Kerslake was a member of Ozzy Osbourne‘s first solo band alongside Randy Rhoads and Bob Daisley.
Kerslake would go on to play with Ozzy on his 5x multi-platinum solo debut “Blizzard Of Ozz” as well as its 3x multi-platinum 1981 follow-up “Diary Of A Madman.”
While Kerslake and Daisley would go on to have a legal dispute with the Osbourne camp in the years that followed; in 2018 upon revealing that he had been diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer, he said his dying wish was to be honored with the platinum plaques for his work on the aforementioned two records. Osbourne would go on to honor that wish for him in early 2019.
TMD sends out condolences to all of Lee’s family, friends, band mates and fans. He is one of the all time greats and will be forever missed.
