Industrial heavy metal masters Fear Factory have cancelled their August Australian tour due to “recording commitments”, amidst reports that former members Christian Olde Wolbers and Raymond Herrera are engaged in a legal battle with the current line-up.
Former drummer Herrera told the radio program “Speed Freaks” that “there’s a big legal battle going on right now. Essentially, what’s happened is Dino [Cazares] and Burt [Bell] (the original members in the current line-up) have become friends again and decided to call it Fear Factory.
“They never communicated with us about it, and they’re acting like there was never any contract, but there’s four members that are Fear Factory Incorporated – which is the four of us.”
Whether this is the reason behind the cancellation is unclear, though the rift did cause a performance in Spain last Sunday to be cancelled, due to issues surrounding the legal use of the Fear Factory moniker.
Ticket refunds are available from point of purchase.
