TICKETMASTER – Changes Refund Policy

The coronavirus pandemic has rocked the live-event industry like never before – and not in a good way, prompting promoters and ticketing companies to “preserve whatever cash they still have in their possession.” Now, one of the world’s largest ticket sellers has reportedly changed a key tenet of its refund policy to avoid refunding fans when events are postponed or rescheduled.

A new report at Digital Music News says that Ticketmaster quietly updated its refund policy recently to significantly reduce refund payouts. While the old policy promised refunds for events that were “postponed, rescheduled or canceled,” a recent modification to said policy now covers cancellations only.

Last month a “Information Regarding the Cancellation and Rescheduling of Live Events” blog entry was posted to the Ticketmaster website that says, “if your event was postponed or rescheduled and you are unable to attend (and resale is enabled for your event), you can sell your tickets to other fans on our safe and simple Ticketmaster resale marketplace.”
