After OZZY postponed his touring plans again “in a bid to continue getting a better handle on his health”, his lead guitarist Zakk Wylde has confirmed he plans to take advantage of that downtime to begin writing and recording a new BLACK LABEL SOCIETY studio album.
Speaking of that with Billboard.com, he stated:
“I’m going to do some writing, I guess, in April, and [in] May and June, we’ll [record] and have that one ready to roll. I don’t demo or stockpile shit. Never have. I’m not like Prince, where he’s recording stuff all the time. I just like to come up with a riff or an idea and be like, ‘Why don’t we track that one today?’ It’s like the beginning of a new season. It’s always fun.”
In addition to his Black Label Society duties, the coming months will also see him release a faithful recreation of Black Sabbath‘s 1970 self-titled debut album via his Zakk Sabbath project. Dubbed “Vertigo“, the group set out to record the album entirely in analog during a 24-hour period as Black Sabbath originally did.
A documentary of the recording for that as well as footage from their February 2020 European touring in support of the outing will also be included with the release, It is the the completion of the latter that has seen the outing delayed from it’s original planned February 13th , 2020 release date. That particular date marked the 50th anniversary of the Black Sabbath album.
