Amon Amarth recently appeared at Metal Hammer’s Golden Gods 2009 awards at the 02 in London, playing a blistering 15 minute set alongside Saxon, Trivium, DevilDriver and Anvil.
Soon afterwards, they walked away with an award for BEST BREAKTHROUGH ACT. This is made all the more sweeter as this Golden God is one of the awards voted for by fans and readers of Metal Hammer.
Vocalist Johan Hegg comments on the award: “This came as a total surprise to us! We are honored that we have such a strong support base and we’d like to thank all you metal heads that voted for us. Winning the Breakthrough Metal Hammer Golden God Award is big for us, and together with all the great things that happened during the last years; high chart entries, great concert turnouts, playing in worldwide territories and opening for Slayer makes this all together totally amazing. We are out of words to describe how thankful we are. We feel really triggered to continue deliver intense shows and inspired to start working on new songs. Horns up and thanks!”
