METALLICA’s second annual day of service is being held today, May 22nd, with the band rallying fans to volunteer at their local community food banks. Special swag from the group for doing so is available via select locations. In honor of that, they’ve shared the above acoustic live performance of “The Unforgiven” from their November 03rd acoustic benefit show that took place in San Francisco, CA.
Fans unable to volunteer today can donate to the band’s nonprofit charity organization, the All Within My Hands Foundation directly via YouTube. That November 2018 performance and an accompanying auction raised $1.3 million for the band’s charity foundation.
The audio of the set was released on vinyl as “Helping Hands…Live & Acoustic at The Masonic” this past February. Metallica have donated to numerous food banks and other organizations via the charity over the past few years, focusing largely on the various cities they have played shows in on their ‘Worldwired Tour‘.
