Sad news to report. MR. BIG drummer Pat Torpey passed away at the age of 64.
“With breaking hearts we tell you that our brother, friend, drummer and founding member, Pat, passed away Wednesday, February 7 from complications of Parkinson’s disease,” the group said in a statement.
“Family, band and management request privacy at this very difficult time. Services are pending.”
Torpey worked on “American Bandstand” and “Solid Gold” before touring with Tina Turner, Belinda Carlisle and the Knack.
Mr. Big was formed in 1988 with Torpey, Billy Sheehan, Eric Martin and Paul Gilbert.
Their self-titled debut album was released in 1989 after a dlay while Torpey toured with Robert Plant, but it was their sophomore album, “Lean Into It,” that brought the group into mainstream success, including No. 1 single “To Be With You.”
