Yesterday it was reported that not only was the 2017 installment of Australian festival Soundwave not taking place, but its imminent 2016 installment was on thin ice as well. Now festival founder and organizer AJ Maddah has now announced the cancellation of Soundwave 16. Here’s the official word:
“I am devastated to have to announce the cancellation of Soundwave 16 due to poor ticket sales. I am very sorry. I tried my best. Thank you to all the fans, bands and people who supported the event for the last 12 years. I wish we could have ended it on a better note.”
Soundwave 2016 was set to take place in Brisbane on January 23, Sydney on January 24, and Melbourne on January 26.
