With three solid years of putrid silence having passed since American death/doom metal duo, ENCOFFINATION,did its best to suffocate the masses with a full-length album, the even deadlier follow-up album is being prepared for exhibit.

This Autumn, Selfmadegod Records will present the horrid III – Hear Me, O’ Death (Sing Thou Wretched Choirs), an album that takes ENCOFFINATION’star-encrusted tones, slow-motion seismic rhythms and soulless, guttural conjuring to their most claustrophobic levels to date. The follow-up to their 2011-released O’ Hell, Shine in Thy Whited Sepulchres LP, the cross-country based duo takes the rotted deathcrush into more occult territory, and implement some of the most ghoulish, slug-paced funeral death to ever be recorded on III – Hear Me, O’ Death (Sing Thou Wretched Choirs). Constructed over a full year, the album was recorded in various sessions throughout 2013, the drums recorded at Universal Sound in San Diego, California, and the rest at Graf Yairden in Atlanta. Funeral vocal choirs, organs and other elements influence the flow of the album, making this one of the most harrowing releases of the year, no only one of the most slowly destructive.

Selfmadegod Records will release ENCOFFINATION’s III – Hear Me, O’ Death (Sing Thou Wretched Choirs) on CD and via digital delivery in North America on October 21st, and a month later on 2xLP. In the meantime, the final cover art and track listing have been dispatched.

Formed in 2008 by drummer Elektrokutioner (Black Pentagram Cult, Father Befouled, Festered, Scaremaker, etc.) and guitarist/bassist/vocalist Ghoat (Father Befouled, Festered, Vomitchapel, ex-Hills of Sefiroth, etc.), ENCOFFINATION perpetuate a suffocating style of slow-motion, dirge-infused death metal with funeral doom bleakness. Their 2010-debut EP, Temples Descend Below the Earth, instantly attained the attention of the underground, but it was their devastating Ritual Ascension Beyond Flesh LP that inundated the scene like a plague, the album initially released later that year through a limited cassette run, which caught the attention of Selfmadegod Records, who issued the album on CD and eventually LP. A pair of EPs and a split with Grave Upheaval bridged Ritual Ascension… and the follow up LP, O’ Hell, Shine in Thy Whited Sepulchres, released in 2011 through Selfmadegod. In 2012, Debumur-Morti released the five-song Elegant Funerals for the Unknown Dead EP, after which the creators began constructing their latest monstrosity, III – Hear Me, O’ Death. (Sing Thou Wretched Choirs). “We have made a pained effort to make this record as monstrous and suffocating as possible. We want to pull the listener even further into the abyss we channeled with the first two records. A conscious effort has been made to lengthen the tracks, to envelop the listener in the drear we invoke as we create our sound” offers Ghoat. “The concept, as opposed to the last record’s theme of death practices, of this record is the glorification of death: an offering to the embodiment of death’s creation, and to sing the wretched hymns of death’s omnipresence, to kneel to death’s crown as we all shall fall under death’s eventual grasp. There will be more of the texture presented on the last record: organs, samples, choirs, and more, all with the same acrid funereal doom we have become known for. If the last record were a tool to teach about death, this record is that creation.”
