DOWN guitarist Peeper Keenan called into the Metal Hammer Magazine radio show this week. While no mention was made of guitarist Kirk Windstein‘s recent departure—and subsequent replacement by Honky‘s Bobby Landgraf—Keenan did drop some info on the bands forthcoming EP.
According to Keenan the group have finished demoing six songs for the outing and are due to begin tracking drums for it this coming Monday, October 7th. He described the outing as being a “slight continuation” of the bands previously released EP and said that it has a “super heavy vibe”. Keenan also announced that the band will be headlining August 08th date of the ‘Bloodstock Open Air‘ festival in Derbyshire, UK next year.
Read Rocket’s acclaimed March/2010 interview with DOWN vocalist Philip H. Anselmo HERE.
Here is an excerpt from that discussion:
Rocket: What initially inspired you to want to start your own record label?
Philip: There’s music I’ve made in the past, music I’ll make in the future, and a handful of bands from around the world that deserve to be heard. The thought of licensing the personal music I’ve been holding onto for over ten-years with some other “label” was ghastly; it wasn’t going to happen. So I knew one day I’d HAVE to put the stuff out on my own! Fast forward to the present… Extreme music has been kind to me on all levels of human existence, so the idea of helping newer bands grow and prosper is natural.
