Mesa, Arizona thrash metal act SARGON have officially called it a day. Here’s word from the band’s guitarist/vocalist Frank Van Kwartel:

“Due to upcoming musical, academic, and other career endeavors, the core of the band (Kelly and myself) have decided to put Sargon into a state of undefined hiatus effective immediately.

We wish to thank everybody for the support we have received since the band’s inception, and we wish to thank you for the opportunity of being able to share the music with you all — whether live or on recordings.

There is no better way to end the Sargon chapter than with rendering tribute to one of our biggest inspirations the “Metal Gods” Judas Priest via our recently released cover of “Hell Bent For Leather” available for streaming here:

Finally, thanks to all the musicians that have been a part of this band from beginning to end,

Stay Metal,

Frank”

Sargon was slated to release their next full length album via The Metal Den Records in 2014.

The Bitter End!

Sargon, the vision and brainchild of Frank Van Kwartel (guitar/vocals), emerged in late 2008 with Edgar Candanedo on bass and Alex Marquez (ex-Malevolent Creation, Solstice) on drums. In February 2009, Sargon recorded and independently released a demo of songs previously written by Van Kwartel entitled The Vehemence EP. Sargon completed their first full-length album In Contempt after relocating to Phoenix, Arizona from Panama City, Panama in December 2010.

In Contempt was digitally released on March 1st, 2011. In August 2011, Sargon signed with Old Cemetery Records and recruited ex- Death/Monstrosity bassist Kelly Conlon. In Contempt was physically released on September 23rd, 2011 by Old Cemetery Records. The band most recently self-released The Bitter End EP in 2012.
