Den Headz, ANTHRAX’s Scott Ian recently spoke with Billboard.com of the groups forthcoming tours, covers and more. Speaking specifically about the upcoming covers, he stated:
“It was a lot of fun, especially because a lot of those [songs] aren’t, I guess, normal for us or like so much of our repertoire — although they are because they’re songs we all knew. Maybe on paper the idea of us doing something like that seems weird, until you hear them and then it makes sense. And Joey‘s performance on the Journey song, specifically, really blows my mind. Someone mentioned that Neal Schon better not hear this or we might lose our singer.”
According to Ian, the band covered:
AC/DC – “T.N.T.”
Boston – “Smokin’”
Cheap Trick – “Big Eyes”
Journey – “Keep On Runnin’”
Rush – “Anthem”
Thin Lizzy – “Jailbreak”
He mentioned that the covers are tentatively planned to see a release on an expanded edition of the groups latest album “Worship Music“; and will likely also be made available for purchase digitally. An additional cover of Black Sabbath‘s “Neon Knights” was also tracked for an upcoming tribute to the late Ronnie James Dio.
