The Metal Den has obtained rare concert audio of late great METALLICA bassist Cliff Burton performing the classic “(Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth” bass solo on January 15, 1985 at The Spectrum in Montreal, Quebec.
Today marks the 26th anniversary of Cliff’s tragic death back on September 27, 1986. He was killed in a bus crash in Ljungby, Sweden while on tour. He was only 24 years old.
On this bootleg recording the listener is treated to a blistering bass lead that has still yet to be equaled in rock music. There is no doubt that Young Cliff was decades ahead of his time in style, chops and attitude.
Widely considered the greatest heavy metal bassist ever, Cliff’s playing was nothing short of genius. He was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 4, 2009 with METALLICA.
