OPETH cancelled their show last night in Maplewood, MN after guitarist/vocalist Mikael Akerfeldt was taken to the hospital following some sort of vehicle mishap. Fans at the show last night report varying stories, with many stating that Akerfeldt was involved in a car accident on his way to the venue. Some rumors suggest that Akerfeldt suffered a broken arm, while others state that he received nothing more than stitches. Either way, one fan posted the following online last night:
“I’m at the Myth right now ~ Mastodons tour manager came out a few moments ago to announce that Opeth’s singer was in a car accident and ‘was rushed to the hospital about an hour ago’ – he said as a result they will not be performing tonight. A loud groan echoed thru this huge sellout crowd of nearly 4000…including me! Bummer.”
