Den Headz, it is indeed a sad moment in the rock world and entertainment universe in general. Legendary American radio and television personality Dick Clark has died at the age of 82.
Clark helped usher in rock n roll music to the living rooms of Americans when he stood front and center at American Bandstand starting in the 50’s all the way into the late 80’s.
Regarding his impact with Bandstand, singer Paul Anka explains: “This was a time when there was no youth culture — he created it. And the impact of the show on people was enormous.”
The show was credited with introducing numerous artists to national audiences, including Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Holly and Chubby Checker.
KISS scored their national TV debut via Dick Clark’s ‘IN CONCERT’ on ABC in 1974.
“NOBODY loved rock n’ roll more than Dick Clark!” – Alice Cooper
TMD salutes a true maverick of his time. Thanks for all the great tunes and laughs, Dick! You are as metal as it gets in our book! Rest in peace!!
