It has been confirmed that drummer Robbie France, best known for his work in DIAMOND HEAD and UFO, passed away last Saturday, January 14. Details regarding his death have yet to be revealed. However, Diamond Head essentially confirmed the news via a short tribute posted on their Facebook page. France was 53 years old.
France is best known by many for his work with DIAMOND HEAD making his debut with them on 1983’s Canterbury and staying in the band until their first break up in 1985. After his time in Diamond Head, France went on to play with numerous groups, including UFO and Skunk Anansie just to name a few. In addition to playing drums (both in rock and jazz), France had gained acclaim as a music educator, producer and writer.
TMD sends our condolences to France’s family and friends.
