UNEARTH – Premiere New Track

Check out the worldwide premiere of “Watch It Burn,” the anthem-esque opening track off UNEARTH’s new Darkness In The Light full-length.

Blisteringly heavy both musically and thematically, vocalist Trevor Phipps comments: “‘Watch It Burn’ is the lead track from Darkness In The Light because we felt it captured the aggression and heaviness of the album while also staying true to our core sound from our earlier records. This is one of the only tunes without a guitar solo, but the harmonies are there to mix around one of the heaviest choruses we’ve ever written. The song is angry, fast and in-your-face while also allowing for a melodic bridge late in the song much like some of our older material. Lyrically, it is an anti-extremist song. It attacks both the left and right of the political spectrum while also calling into question extremist religious groups and their influence on our culture. All these political and religious extremists seem to manage to do is splinter society and turn people against each other that otherwise likely wouldn’t be at odds. Basically we can put aside some meager differences and work to better ourselves or we can keep heading down this destructive path and eventually ‘Watch It Burn.'”

Darkness In The Light is UNEARTH’s fifth full-length. Scheduled for release in North America on July 5 via Metal Blade Records, the 11-track long player was recorded at Zing Studios in Westfield, Massachusetts with producer/Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz and mixed at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida by Mark Lewis (The Black Dahlia Murder, Whitechapel, Trivium, et al). Sitting in on drums during the recording was Justin Foley of Killswitch Engage/Blood Has Been Shed.

Both long term fans and those just getting to know the band for the first time will be struck by the sheer vitality and unconstrained energy surging through Darkness In the Light’s near 40-minute run time. Said Fangoria.com in an early review of the record: “Tight riffing, varying from technical peddle-style patterns, to twin harmony Maiden/At The Gates worship, and all the brutally chugging breakdowns, will surely serve to inspire many a karate kick in the pits, come tour time.”
